The Diagnosis

The vet told us it was one of three things: Diabetes, Cushing’s Disease or low thyroid level. Princess was tested, and the results showed her thyroid level was low. At least her problems were related with a disease that is fairly simple to treat! She will be on medication the rest of her life, and the levels tested periodically. It took almost two years to get her back in condition.

She’s Back

The summer after being diagnosed, I registered Princess in the Pinto Registry and showed her to many wins. Princess allowed me to meet many new friends with the Pinto Association of Ohio. Later in the year, I showed Princess at the Royal Miniature Horse and Tack Open Miniature Show in Avon, Ohio. Even though a small show, I was elated when she was awarded Grand Champion Mare, 1st in color, 1st in halter obstacle, 1st in costume, Grand Champion Overall, AND High Point Horse for the show!!!

My "Energizer Bunny"

When Princess turned eighteen, and the word "retirement" popped into my head. The thought of leaving Princess at home sure tore my heart up. I couldn’t imagine not being at a show without Princess...nor could any of my friends that know her!
